I don’t have a refrigerator, but if I did, these are the things I would stick on the door with pride.

  • Contributing artist for the book Creative Lettering for Kids by Jenny Doh
  • Won two national graphic design awards from Graphic Design U.S.A. (June 2013)
  • Once hit my FitBit “steps” from repeatedly reaching into a bag of potato chips; nearly died laughing
  • Selected as 1 of 16 students internationally to study in the inaugural class of Type@Paris; earned certificate
  • Earned Certificate in Digital Publishing from SCAD
  • Earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Graphic Design from Carson-Newman
  • Completed 15 commissioned hand lettering pieces for Faber-Castell art supply company’s social media campaign (And got some sweet pens as a perk)
  • Became a collaborator with LetterZine
  • Designed something every day for 1 year (The output itself is mostly mediocre because I’m years more experienced now, but it’s evidence of my progress.)
  • Filmed an interview about the project with the Design Recharge Show
  • Completed an interview with the Lettering Guy, Alex Savakis
  • Became a Certified Time Traveller by crossing the International Date Line; printed my own totally-legitimate certificate
  • Became a member of AIGA
  • Typographic passion project featured in AIGA member gallery (January 2014)
  • Garnered nearly 20,000 followers of my Font of the Day board on Pinterest
  • Stayed in a hotel room with a complete stranger to attend a design conference together, and did not get murdered. In fact, we are literally best friends now. (Hi, Christine!)
  • Created a Chicago MeetUp group that’s basically a book club but for albums. Made friends, met cool people, and had lots of interesting conversations about one of my greatest passions.
  • Won (?) a participation trophy in 1st grade tee ball
  • Earned some kind of medal for playing clarinet in 4th grade
  • Helped my team achieve 0 errors on any of our 800 proofs during my first quarter at The Word For You Today—a company first!
  • Learned the ropes of art direction at Sourcebooks
  • Created page layouts and lead production of special publications at Shopper-News; learned a wealth of knowledge from my manager and mentor, Melanee
  • Became a moderator of /r/Lettering (Spoiler alert: I really don’t do anything, but I still like to brag about it because I guess that’s what mods do)
  • Once (literally, once) ran for 30 minutes straight without stopping
  • Volunteered at Knoxville Museum of Art
  • Performed community service (and made friendships!) with Gamma Sigma Sigma sorority
  • Had my daily design blog featured on How Design
  • Desktop wallpaper design included in Smashing Magazine’s monthly feature (December 2013)
  • Ate an entire box of Thin Mint cookies in one sitting (This happens annually)
  • Started a million projects I never finished
  • Finished this one!
